Review: Days of Blood and Starlight (Book #2) by Laini Taylor

12812550Edition: Hardcover
Pages: 517
Publish Date: November 6, 2012
Publisher: Little Brown Books
Genre: YA Paranormal Fantasy

Goodreads Rating: 4.25 (58,869 ratings)

Karou. Karou. This one was so much more, as much as you thought you learned about these worlds in The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, you discover even more in this one.
Though Karou and Akiva are apart they are battling the same war on either side.
Either to stay with what they know - Death - Or create the world Madrigal and Akiva dreamed of so long ago.

This story gets better and better, though I look forward to whatever ending this story leads to, I am heartbroken to have to ever part with these characters.
These lives, characters and story Laini Taylor has created will stay with me forever...and I knew this from the first book.

Review: Forever. . . by Judy Blume

37743Edition: Paperback
Pages: 178
Publish Date: June 3, 2005
Publisher: Pan Childrens
Genre: YA Romance
Series: No
Goodreads Rating: 3.63 (39,345 ratings)

So there are many reasons as to why I read this.
Firstly after my friend found out about my situation with this guy (my childhood friend/crush) and how I've never moved past him, she asked me if I ever read Judy Blume as a kid. Sadly, I am one of those kids that never experienced any of Blume's books before. But when she explained the story I figured I'd give it a shot, and after finding it on book outlet for only a buck I went for it.
Since I needed a bit of a break from the amazing fantasy awesomeness of The Daughter of Smoke and Bone I picked this one up. Read it for a strait hour and a half and I loved it.
It was all so relatable, and I can see how this could truly influence tween and teens. Though at 21 I'm a little out of the age group and the writing was intended for a younger audience I still really enjoyed it.

Holy shit Holy shit Holy SHIT.
Best book ever.
I can't even right now.
This book was insane! so inspiring and magical, completely mind blowing!
My mind is fucking BLOWN!
I think I might have to do a full series review because I don't even think there's a way to describe this book and all the mystery and magic and worlds that are shown.
So I'm just going to say you MUST READ this book!

Here's the goodreads summary since my brain is still recovering from the trauma and would rather be reading Days of Blood and Starlight.

"Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.
In a dark and dusty shop, a devil’s supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.
And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.
Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real, she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands", she speaks many languages - not all of them human - and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out.
When beautiful, haunted Akiva fixes fiery eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?"

READ THIS BOOK PEOPLE!

Review: Nova and Quinton: No Regrets (Nova#3) by Jessica Sorensen

18210226Edition: ebook
Pages: 384
Publish Date: April 15, 2014
Publisher: Grand Central
Genre: New Adult Romance
Series: Nova and Quinton
Goodreads Rating: 4.16 (3,965 ratings)

Hurray! Gotta love a happy ending :)
These two were so perfect for eachother it was ridiculous, they had there moments and with being miles apart it was hard but it was totally an "absence makes the heart grow fonder" kind of romance. And when they finally got together it was perfect, sexy, and so well done. You know on TV shows where they get the OTP together and it ruins everything? This was the exact opposite, all the wait came to a glorious end.

Review: Saving Quinton (Nova #2) by Jessica Sorensen

18210225Edition: ebook
Pages: 384
Publish Date: January 1, 2014
Publisher: Grand Central
Genre: New Adult Romance
Series: Nova and Quinton
Goodreads Rating: 4.12 (5,055 ratings)

So I'm going to start off by saying that I do not have an addictive personality. Nor am I a person to dwell on the past and what cannot be changed.
So a lot of this book, mainly the aspect of drugs and addiction just annoyed me. I know that's horrible because this is a huge issue for many people but I have never been able to grasp the concept that if you want to quit something for some people it can be a lot harder than it is for me.
I related well to Nova's story of losing someone she loved and never understanding why (though she had the suicide video the whole time...) being left behind with all those questions can definitely take it's toll on you.
Though I loooved the first book and am truly looking forward to the next book with that ending with Quinton in Rehab, but overall I did not enjoy this book as much as the first.

Review: Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi

15782640Edition: Paperback
Pages: 461
Publish Date: January 1, 2013
Publisher: Harper Collins
Genre: Young Adult Dystopian Fantasy
Series: Shatter Me
Goodreads Rating: 4.31 (65,725 ratings)

I'm honestly unsure how I feel about this one. We got a lot more info about the rebellion, all the characters and their powers, as well as some family relations, and what will tear our perfect pair of Adam and Juliette apart.
I know everyone says that Warner is the evil character they can't help but love, but I can't stand him to be honest. And now with all these revelations, Juliette's love for Warner is just so messed up. Adam is the perfect good guy who she's meant to be with, while Warner is the bad boy who will destroy everything in the end.
Over all I need a break from this series, felt Juliette was getting a little annoying, plus I need some good contemporary romance rather than dystopian crazyness.

Review: Breaking Nova (Nova #1) by Jessica Sorensen

18210224Edition: ebook
Pages: 384
Publish Date: September 3, 2013
Publisher: Grand Central
Genre: New Adult Romance
Series: Nova and Quinton
Goodreads Rating: 4.02 (9,678 ratings)

LOOOVED IT.
Two damaged characters dealing with past deaths, guild over those they've lost, handling the 'what ifs' in life.
Though it ended well for Nova after she hit her rock bottom, Quinton is falling fast and hard into drugs and it's Nova he needs to get him out.
Cannot wait for the next boook!
Jessica Sorensen you've done it again :)

Review: Mosquitoland by David Arnold

21921204Edition: Hardcover
Pages: 352
Publish Date: March 3, 2015
Publisher: Viking Books
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Series: No
Goodreads Rating: 4.10 (1,594 ratings)

Ah contemporaries. I love them, but I'm also a romance junkie. Whether it's any genre, sci-fi, dystopian, fantasy, etc, it has to have a good romance. And this one fell flat. Aside from the lack of oowie goowie lovie dovey stuff, the book definitely got my attention. At first it was the cover, then the character Mary Iris "MIM" Malone. And especially the amazing writing by David Arnold. People said it was alike to John Green, but I did not like John Green's books or writing style, this writing made the book for me.

Officially I'm only giving this book 3.5 stars, it'll be a 3 on goodreads only because I'm not willing to label it a 4, it is a solid 3.5 for having all the criteria of road trips, great characters, sarcasm, but lost out on the romance part and an ending that left you high and dry. I just wanted more. Maybe a second part? Who knows.

Review: Becoming Rain (Burying Water #2) by K.A. Tucker

24907305Edition: ebook
Pages: 384
Publish Date: March 3, 2015
Publisher: Atria Books
Genre: New Adult Romance
Series: Burying Water
Goodreads Rating: 4.20 (1,274 ratings)

Okay, so I'm going to start off by saying that I am a crime show junkie, and I never even looked at the synopsis of this book until after I started reading it and found out she's an undercover cop!
This book was down right amazing! I just wanted more to the happy ending. But everything they went through, all the lies and secrets was so intense and if I dare say better than the first Burying Water book. I cannot wait for the third book to come out, I just hope we get some pieces of Rain and Luke's life like we did for Water and Jesse in this book.
I'll be honest I'm rarely a fan of spin offs, but this one was perfect and entirely new. I loved every second of it.
