Review: Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill

“There's a difference between preferring books to parties and preferring sixteen cats to seeing the light of day.”
― Lauren MorrillMeant to Be

Such an adorable summer read! Reminded me of the teenage international version of the movie The Ugly Truth. This book is about Julia and her search for her MTB "Meant To Be", first thinking it's her childhood dream Mark, then the mysterious Chris who she meets on her trip to London with her school. Then there's Jesse, class clown, and everything "book licker" Julia hates, and unfortunately-her buddy for the entire 10 day trip.
Things change as Jesse forces her out of her shell, becoming a rule breaker, exploring the city in search of the mysterious Chris she met (and can't remember) at the party Jesse dragged her to the first night in London.
Though all the time they're spending together, Julia sees a new side to Jesse, and he sees a new side in her. Both bringing out the best in eachother.
In the end, Julia realizes that nothing is MTB, it's not fate, it's not going to be what you plan or exactly what you imagine it will be. Sometimes the one you're supposed to be with, has been there all along.

“Or maybe Jason's right: there are perfect people, many of them, and it's up to you to grab one when you find each other in the random chaos of life and love.”

I think any reader would love this book simply for the relatebility towards Julia and her love for books, the Beatles, and hope for true love.

Thanks for reading!
